What is HPC?

Welcome to the Human Performance Center (HPC). HPC is a high level training center dedicated to improving athletic ability through a variety of training modalities. The coaching staff will push individuals to reach their athletic or fitness goals.

Every athlete will be given a unique program, created by HPC Coaches. The coaches are certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists, with expertise in athletic performance. Programs will include all areas of athleticism. Athletes will perform combinations of high-speed treadmill, power, agility, conditioning, and injury prevention drills. The programs are sport specific and cater to the athlete’s needs and alter according to what training season the athlete is in currently.

The HPC Difference

Credentials: All strength coaches at HPC are Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. This certification provides the HPC coaches with the knowledge base to design sport specific programs that help the athletes reach the season healthy and in peak condition.

High-Speed Treadmill (Over-Speed Training): Most coaches use speed bands or downhill running in an attempt to improve the sprint times of their athletes. The problem with both of these training methods is that, invariably, the athletes will change their running mechanics to prevent them from falling forward. With the help of a treadmill that moves up to 32mph, a harness that eliminates the fear of falling, and proper running gait analysis, the athletes at the Human Performance Center are teaching their neuromuscular system to fire at a faster rate. This treadmill is a proven speed training method, which has helped shave seconds off of sprint and shuttle times.

Explosive Power Training: From a complex barbell snatch to a basic squat, all multi-joint lifts at HPC are performed on vibration platforms. Whole body vibration training has been shown to significantly enhance athlete proprioception (balance), strength (1 rep max), and explosive power (vertical leap).

Injury Prevention: Sports injuries occur frequently in athletes of all levels and sports. In fact, one out of every ten college female athletes will blow out her ACL before the end of her athletic career. HPC uses scientifically proven methods to reduce the incidence of sports injuries.

     A. Functional Movement Screening (FMS): FMS is an assessment tool that points out problems in athlete movement patterns. This allows HPC coaches to write programs to correct deficiences for enhancing power and preventing future injuries.

     B. Footwork: Training for the unexpected. Many lower body injuries occur when an athlete moves in a manner that the body is not accustomed. Better footwork improves coordination and will reduce the incidence of lower body injury.

Video Analysis: Cutting edge video technology gives athletes instant visual feedback. This program gives the athletes a real understanding of corrections and adjustments that need to be made.
